- Mindfulness -

calming all the waves

How do we calm the waves of doubt, fear, grief, loneliness or anxiety? How do we stop the gray clouds of negative self-talk or ruminating thoughts? I enjoy incorporating mindfulness into my therapy sessions and teaching clients how to focus on being present while cultivating a non-judgmental stance of awareness, peace, and acceptance about themselves.
"The mind is like water. When it's turbulent, it's difficult to see. But when it's calm, everything becomes clear."
-Prasad Mahes-

What is mindfulness?

When you stop to observe a beautiful sunset over the ocean, you become aware of the array of colors that disperse throughout the sky. You may notice the unique positions and shapes of the clouds and focus on the cool breeze. Being in that moment, you may feel solitude, gratefulness, compassion, peace, or a sense of existence. Being mindful of the present calms the waves of anxiety & the winds of change in your life. Mindfulness is strategically directing your full attention to the present moment with acceptance and without judgment. As we pay kind attention to the moment, we are able to cultivate and increase compassion for ourselves and others. Accepting reality of each moment’s experience with curiosity and openness allows us to slow down, see more clearly, sense our emotions, and feel safe, relaxed, and connected.
